Unnatural, but that's okay! I want them! [Oct. 3rd, 2005|08:48 am]

Scientists in Germany are working on contact lenses that will not only correct ordinary vision problems, but also will provide a five-fold improvement in night vision. This would make our nightime sight better then that of owls or cats.

What I am really looking forward to is something that should be coming out by the end of next year, which are contact lenses that when shined with a pen light will be able to accurately measure your blood sugar by a color code. No more sticking yourself with a little needle to find out if your are running high or low on your blood sugar if you are diabetic.

Wish I had one, actually. I got it off of News Of The Weird, back when they still sent out monthly newsletters. I've always found them to be very reliable, so I just copied down the info to use for a later ujse. My apoligies. I imagine you could search the pertinent info and find it on your own?

I admit that sounds freakin' cool. However, how would they do it? I don't see how they can improve night vision *which is based on pupils/receptors/pigments* with just contacts.

*shrug* Won't stop me from trying though!

ya, I agree... I thought night vision depended on the sensitivity and reactions in your pupil... although contacts do correct our vision, which is in the retina, and pupil, so... it could happen, maybe

According to that link, that was posted May 9th, 2004, and I didn't even have this LJ back then, and I got that info a few months ago I thought... so I'm not entirely certain they're related, though I definitely see where you would think that was the case.
