Don't rub your hands in snow if frostbitten. Gradual warming is key yet rubbing the area with anything may damage more tissue.

why would you rub your hands in snow if theyre frostbitten? wouldnt that make it even worse to rub it in more cold?

Well you and I know that, but I think that was what pioneers used to do. I remember it was an option when playing Oregon Trail when I was little if someone was frostbit.

LOL. I remember when your next door neighbor New York went into a freaking tizzy with 3 inches of snow. Places were closed, and people were moving like it was the worst blizzard in the world. Ilaughed so hard, I don't even think I wore a coat. People were like "That girl's craaaazy! She's acting like it's a normal day! "
