How many Registered sex offenders live in your immediate area?

0 in mine.

Suddenly, I'm very happy with where I live.

17 in mine... but I find it suspicious... shouldn't it be a dot GOV site? and if its a public service, then would we have to pay for a full report?

Well, it's a public service to tell you how many I suppose.

The government does take money from us every day.. so I guess it didn't make me blink too much.

4 Registered sex offenders are located in your Immediate area.

Wow.. surprising, only four. I honestly expected like 28... I live 2 blocks away from a halfway house that is very well known as a straight from jail placement house for level 1 and 2 sex offenders.

A whopping twenty-three.
I'm speechless.
That's a horrible picture of me that they have on their too.
I'm a li'l 'offended'.
I wonder if they'll let me send them one of my own.

How do you know he lives on your street if you didn't pay?

And yeah, it's a bummer. I can see why though, everything costs money.

Don't you think this smacks of vigilanteism? I don't like sex offenses and I'd be wary of any such offender, but I'm prepared to accept that some offenders are remorseful and reformed and are trying to get on with their lives, and that a very few might be falsely convicted. The register makes no distinctions between those who are high risks and those who are unlikely to reoffend.

And what about those who haven't yet offended, but are going to? (It isn't likely to have been the same old crew of offenders since the dawn of time.) And what about those who have offended but haven't been convicted? The register doesn't protect anyone from them.

Is there a register for burglars and carjackers as well? What about fraudsters who prey on the elderly?

Aside from the vigilante aspect, having to pay for this reminds me of home alarms - a great way of profiting from people's fears. Oh, they say it's hard to get this information, but they seem to have got it pretty easily. Maybe, if you need it, you can get it as easily as they can.

Most, but not all, sexual offenses are committed by those who know the victim well. If we are concerned about our children and unable to protect them at all times we must warn them to be careful around people they don't know, and to tell them they shouldn't do anything they are uncomfortable with.

I think it's ridiculous to assume just because most sexual offenses occur due to incest, etc. that a parent shouldn't be wary of sexual offenders in their neighborhood.

With the extremely high rate of sex offenders that are repeat offenders, and who many times, turn more and more violent, including kidnapping and murders, I think that this kind of website is extremely necessary.

If you don't want to be targeted, and have a difficult time getting your life back on track, move somewhere that they don't keep track of sex offenders. I'm glad they keep track of them here. As a mother, I think anyone who fucks with kids like that should not only have their name, address and pictures posted for the neighborhood to see.. they should have never left prison. I also think that they should be branded with something on their face so that the rest of the prisoners know why they're there and they can get their due. Every f'ing day.

Also, telling children to not ever do things they're uncomfortable with can only go so far, because some rapists/molesters say they will hurt their mom, dad, sister, brother, kitten, puppy etc. if they tell about what's happening. The child can feel like they have no choice, no matter how uncomfortable they feel --

That is if the child isn't grabbed while walking home from school, or riding their bike to the store to get an ice cream cone, and is grabbed, raped, and killed. Not necessarily in that order.

Sex offenders have no reason to exist as far as I'm concerned, and I wish their were machines with razor edged dildos repeatedly forcing themselves into each of their orifices (orifi?) until they die from pain, suffering, or blood loss. Preferably the first.
