The bagpipe, the national instrument of Scotland, did not originate in Scotland. Bagpipes were known in Persia in ancient times, and actually their antiquity has been traced back to ancient Mesopotamia.

Really? That's so funny, because if taught right, trombone is supposed to be one of the easiest instruments to learn. When kids aren't good at anything else we reccomend they do the trombone. of band instruments Oboe is the most difficult. At least from what bit of musical training I've had. *shrug* And that's CRAZY! Are you originally from a pretty small town? I didn't know that they still had schools like that at all!

lol I've only seen pictures of oboes but they do look complicated. Yes, my hometown is very small. Actually, when I first started school, it was K-12. Then they built my elementary school in 1988. It opened my 2nd grade year. Later, while I was in high school, they turned it into the middle school. All the way through 8th grade, my school still had Bible as a required class every Thursday. The town knew it was illegal, but no on complained until after I was in HS. Then, they didn't get rid of it, only stopped making it a requirement. My town even had a working ferry until I was a junior :D The biggest thing there still is just the grocery store..the Piggly Wiggly. lol that name cracks me up. We also have a Hardee's, Papa's Pizza, and a Dollar General. I really really miss it :D Small, but just right for me. I favor more trees and rivers to buildings. Everything is a little slower there. When you pass people while driving in your car and they're in theirs, you still raise your hand off the steering wheel in a small wave. I love it.

You had a ferry?! That's much cooler then Bible being a required class, I gotta say. ;) It'd be a really interesting place to do a documentary on I imagine.

lol nah it's not that interesting. It's now completely in the modern age. We even had routes for mail..instead of police registered addresses like 5 North Street or such. I used to live at Rt 2 Box 60, Decatur, TN 37322 :D Now, I have no idea what that address could be.
Yeah, I liked riding the ferry. I just did it for fun, I had no purpose for going to the town it led to :D
