[music |Barney. Ay yi yi -- the nepotism special.]

Attending a wedding for the first time, a little girl whispered to her mother,

"Why is the bride dressed in white?"

"Because white is the color of happiness, and today is the happiest day of her life."

The child thought about this for a moment, then said,

"So why is the groom wearing black?"

Congrats. ;)

And I loved it. I know wives that have dressed in black though and have to wonder if it's going to be indicative of the relationship..

Because they're crazy and the Nevada Atomic Bomb testing radiation got to them? ;)

That's great. In China, brides wear red.

The white dress represents virginity. The tuxedo is just standard formal wear.

The cliche comment against the bride at a wedding is something along the lines of disbelief that she is qualified to wear white.

I've been to a wedding where the bride and the groom wore white.

Also where neither have worn white. It's just tradition.

Really?

Yes, dear. I know. It was actually a joke. :)

I imagine the reason that the joke was worded as it was is because it was about a little girl talking to her Mother and most Mom's don't feel like describing virginity and such to their little girls.

My wife will wear all red, and I will wear all black. I will wear red lipstick, though, iv'e always liked the look of that. She should wear black lipstick too, that would be a nice Yin & Yang touch.

loving the new icon

I heard white dresses got started in America in the old south as a show of wealth. It was very expensive to have such a detailed dress made and one of white could only conceivably be worn once since it got dirty so easily. loved the joke though :D I will share it w/ my hubby. Incidently, we both wore ivory on our day, mine w/ traces of gold and he had lavender shirt to match my flowers :D

I'm planning on wearing silver at my wedding; I'd like my husband to wear a non-black tuxedo.

Silver can be gorgeous at weddings. Silver and blue are pretty together, like a dark navy?
