Va. Woman Gets Stuck in Bathtub for 5 Days [May. 30th, 2005|07:51 pm]

Sun Apr 17
HAMPTON, Va. - A 75-year-old woman who lay trapped in her bathtub for five days toasted her rescue with a cola and a cigarette. Jane Fromal suffered slight dehydration even though she said she ran tap water to drink during the ordeal.
Doctors said they would keep her at the hospital for a few days to make sure her muscles were working right.
Fromal drew a bath Saturday afternoon to nurse a sore tailbone.
"I thought I'd get in the tub and soak," she said Thursday as she rested at Riverside Regional Medical Center. "I didn't know I was going to soak for five days."
She tried to lift herself up a number of times but was unable to do so. Her elbows and forearms were left raw and sore.
Fromal didn't sleep much during the five days. "How can you sleep in a bathtub?"
She finally got help when a neighbor's grandson noticed newspapers piling up in her driveway and insisted his grandmother call Fromal's family.
Shaun Foley, 21, tried banging on her doors and windows and noticed that her mailbox was stuffed.
James Mountjoy, Fromal's grandson-in-law, burst through a locked storm door. Family members found her in the bathroom off her upstairs bedroom on Wednesday evening.
After donning a warm robe, being lifted to safety and drinking a little water, Fromal didn't ask for food. She wanted one of her Parliament 100s and a Coke.
It wasn't the first time Fromal, who has a little trouble with her legs, has been stuck in the bathtub. A few weeks ago she lay in the tub all day.
Fromal's family plans to add railings and a tub chair in her bathroom

The topic of the post has me curious as to just what you're "thoughtfull" about, lol

It's funny though, that it says "slight dehydration, even though..." Actually, *most* people are at least "slightly" dehydrated a good portion of the time, heh.

LOL. Something COMPLETELY unrelated to the post. LOL. Not "Hmm.. How do I get myself stuck in a bath tub?" I was thinking about something my sister mentioned to me about some business ventures she might be going into and was trying to work the pros and cons out for her in my mind. :)

It's true. And drinking coke would only dehydrate her more. I'd be more concerned about why she wasn't hungry.. or if maybe she had a bag of cheetos or something with her while she bathed.. who knows.

she sounds like Pres. Taft...he had to have a special bathtub made that fit like 20 people in it...how bad would that have been if she had died and they found her naked in her bathtub?

eee. I'm sure that people have found worse, but that is not the way I personally would choose to go.

Ok, first thing I thought of is how uncomfortable it would be to be found in the bath. Especially if you had been in there a while.

2nd, it reminds me of the 4th time I busted my head open. I feel for the woman.

Yeah. They're not comfy for an extended time period, I hope that the water didn't get all cold. I imagine she just kept putting it in there hot when it started to get chilly, don't you think? But won't your skin began to wear away if submerged in water for that long?

And holy Hannah, how did you do that?!?
