Which song by The Beatles is your favorite, and why?

My favorite is Golden Slumbers. What's yours?

And a very disturbing practice in Afghanistan, Bacha Bazi:

Strawberry Fields Forever.

The variation in instrumentation in each chorus is exciting. Also at the end he says "I buried Paul".

I love that song too! Honestly there's not much from the Beatles that I don't love.

A Day in the Life is my favorite, but then I have like 75 other Beatles songs that are tied for second LOL

LOL, I'm with you. They're all so good. That's my Dad's favorite. I love it too.

Golden Slumbers is what I sang my daughter to sleep with when she was little!

It's one of a dozen or so favorites - I go by mood with the Beatles. Happy times, I like Rocky Raccoon and Here Comes the Sun, melancholy times I listen to Blackbird and Yesterday and While My Guitar Gently Weeps (with my absolute favorite guitarist, Eric Clapton!), if I'm angry I listen to A Day in the Life or Happiness is a Warm Gun, if I'm feeling especially loving it's Here, There and Everywhere or When I'm Sixty-Four. For fun, it's almost anything off Meet the Beatles because I love the harmonies. When I want to get work done, it's Abbey Road.
I may have missed a few more favorites... Oh yes! Let It Be! I taught myself the piano part as a kid.

and re: Bacha Bazi - BoingBoing covered it this morning. Hypocrisy abounds at high levels, doesn't it.

That's why it's my favorite!!! It was the only thing that would calm Little Random down both in my tummy and as a baby. It just always makes me smile when I hear it. Love the song. Love all of those you listed too, except I don't know Rocky Racoon. Going to check that out :)

And seriously, right? I figured it was getting a little coverage but thought a little more couldn't hurt. Horrific.

I love that song. My Dad went to Paul's concert a number of years ago and Paul said it was his favorite that he's written. :)

If I had to pick, it would be a tie between Here Comes the Sun, Something, and Hello Goodbye. Everything else ties at second.

It's kind of weird sometimes to actively like the Beatles after years of it being something I had to put up with as a Mom thing. (Our Magical Mystery Tour video that I watched forever as a kid didn't count.)

Loooove all of those! -- Aww see I was raised on the Beatles and always loved them, and so far Little Random absolutely adores them. He even has a couple Beatles shirts he begs to wear. One's too small now, I'm considering just cutting out the image of the cartoonish Beatles and sewing it on a shirt his size. lol. I don't have a sewing machine though so it'd have to be by hand, and I'm not all that great at all that yet. lol

I would have said Golden Slumbers or A Day in the Life as well, but then I went to a concert recently (can't remember the name of the band, but they're from Ontario) who play nothing but classic albums, note for note and they played "Abbey Road in its entirety. I was blown away. They play the entire album, every instrument, sing every song, add in every ad lib, exactly as the album was recorded. They aren't a tribute band, they don't dress up or anything. It was awesome. I forgot how many Beatles songs I actually love. The first half of the show is the album they are performing and the second half is songs by the band they are featuring, as they were originally recorded. They are coming back to the west coast in the spring and performing Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side of the Moon". I can't wait.

Dude, that sounds awesome!!! If you find out the name, please let me know. I would love to check them out even if it's just on the internet. ;) They sound really cool.

Oh man, I hope they play Wizard of Oz in the background. Wouldn't that be awesome?

Really, really hard to say: I'd go for 'Happiness Is A Warm Gun' because I'm a cynical fucker. Having said that, 'She Loves You' is 2.5 minutes of the best pop ever written.

Nah, I agree with everyone else here. You can't have ONE favourite Beatles song: they can be the soundtrack for your life in so many ways.

Except 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'. Boy, does that suck.

Sidenote.. I totally just watched your icon for like five minutes. lol

Agreed so much! Love 'em! I can say Golden Slumbers is my favorite just because of the connection with my son to it, but as far as musically, impossible to pick just one.

And lol, Maxwell Silver Hammer. Those lyrics man. Really? ;)

I love aaaaall of those. She's Leaving Home used to make me cry as a teenager. Not exactly sure why, it wasn't so much the lyrics as just the sound of the song. It always left me meloncholy but it was so beautiful I didn't care.

somebody
