A dead man was elected mayor of a small town in Colorado in 1983. The voters of Ward, population 125, elected as a mayor of this old mining town, a resident who died a week before the election. Some of the voters were undoubtedly paying tribute to the man and the community, for as one resident quipped "Ward's a ghost town, and we decided to elect a dead man to represent the silent majority."

And Germans who say nice things. :)

where was it that voted a dead man into office over John Ashcroft...I guess Ashcroft didn't make out too bad since he then became Attorney General after he lost the election.

ward also has a thing called a frozen dead guy parade... or something about a frozen guy who's been stored in a shed for twenty years....

..... what will happen when the old west hippy towns go extinct? my heart aches to think of it...

Says something about the other candidate dosen't it? The city near me had it's mayor die right before his innaugularal speech, and his wife became mayor.

The really creepy part was that they exhumed him up and propped him up in the Mayor's office. It made for some really macabre city council meetings.

Dead Guy for mayor

That reminds me of a guy in Kansas City. He died in a helicopter accident or something, but everyone voted for him, and since was dead, his wife was elected. It's sort of the same thing. We voted for a dead guy.
By the way, your journal is cool. I keep finding reasons to link to your journal entries.

Re: Dead Guy for mayor

That's really cool. :) I'm glad his wife was able to pick up the torch so to speak. And thanks so much. =)
