All Oscar-nominated films for Best Picture in 1998 (at the March 1999 ceremony) took place more than 50 years before the film was released. The Best Picture winner was Shakespeare in Love, and the other nominees that year were Saving Private Ryan, Life Is Beautiful, The Thin Red Line and Elizabeth.

eh, i figure why tell let some staute say it's a winner??!
when we all know her it's a great movie?
the internet has really done away if movies is going to be watched or not just by a few key strokes =p

But it's important for those actors and filmmakers. It gives them a solid form of recognition.
