what would he do for a klondike bar?
Drat! You beat me to first! :-P
And, wow ... 300 tons of candy bars ...
It's a lot of freakin' candy.
And it's the second and I still haven't listed the firsters of last month.
I'm good for nothin'! Tomorrow. I just need to remind myself.
FOR THE WIN!
Now thats sweet tooth. The only time I tried to snagg a free candy bar resulted in my tossing it behind me as I ran down the street with the store manger right behind me
LOL! Really?! That's awesome!
I stole a candy bar in second grade, and my teacher found out and made me tell everyone in my class what I had done.
I thought the business of death vid was kind of cute. ^_^; I suppose there's a reason people can't decide if I'm "odd" or "special." LOL
Oh it's really interesting, for sure!! I thought it was facinating, but some of the animation was gross. Mostly cool though.
My friend who is always so honest, years ago when she was about 18 had a bad point in her life and one morning sort of had a brain snap. She walked into a supermarket an pocketed a Mars Bar. She got stopped by security and marched to the police station. Nearly the whole village came out in support of this girl because they knew something must have been up with her as it was SO out of character for her. Even after the Village Policeman, the vicar, and the school head teacher came as character witnesses, the courts were downright nasty and said that she should be made an example of and fined her £70! £70 for one mars bar!
I know it was wrong of her to do it but as I say it was so out of character.
What happened, do you think that made her do that?
She'd got stressed out over how much college work she'd got to do and it all just became too much for her. She told me later that although she hadn't known it herself then, it was a cry for help. She said she sort of wanted to get caught so that someone would realise how stressed she was.
Thankfully I think the village sussed that out before she did!
Wow. Interesting. *nod* That's a damn expensive candy bar all the same. lol
Oh yeah, and she's never done anything since (she's in her early fourties now!).
She was really thankful for everyones' support but was REALLY, REALLY embarrassed that it had ended up with everyone knowing about it.
I bet! What does she do for a living now?
I can't remember now what she was studying at college but I know that what she's doing now is totally different.
She moved to the south coast of England to work as a carer who lives in a specially built, four houses together place joined by a corridor where she has one of the houses, another carer lives in the second and the other two are occupied by two extremely severely physically and mentally disabled adults (in their 40's as well, I think) who requested to live as independent adults in houses of their own. The scheme has about 10 of these blocks of 4 all built together.
If I were the judge and everyone had said it was really out of character for her, I would have made her get a psyche evaluation. When people start to snap they can do horrible things. If you get a warning sign its best to catch problems early. Before the person completely loses it and ends up hurting or killing someone. I saw a story on tv about a guy who suddenly had a psychotic break and stabbed his twin 5 year old daughters to death. There were no warning signs. People can do really scary things when they are under stress. If there's a personality change the person should be sent for help.
That's a terrible situation. I would say that a lot of people will behave out of chracter for themselves at time, and that it rarely leads to anything violent, or criminal.
What on Earth(or perhaps Mars) for?
They are my favorite, but still.
He appears to have sold them. lol. So strange!
Thanks for posting "The Business of Death". It was a very good watch and led me to some other excellent shorts on youtube.
I really enjoy your journal and I'm glad we're friends. People like you are the reason LJ is worth coming to day in and day out.
Aww! Thank you so much! *hugs* I'm glad we're friends too. You just made my night! :)
Did they make him go to over-eaters anonymous in jail?
I wonder how much he was selling them for. If he had a buyer or was going to sell them on the street?
I recently, heard a story about someone stealing 300 kegs of beer. It was the biggest beer heist in history. They said the person would need to have a warehouse to put them in. They highly suspect it was an inside job. At the time they didn't know who stool them. I'm not sure if they caught the person/people yet.
I think he was selling them more then eating them. - And seriously!? That's a lot of freakin' beer!
WHO'S THAT LOUNGIN IN MY CHAIR
And due to you later post I now know that a lorryload of Mars Bars is equivalent to a truckload of Milky Way bars.
LOL, right? ;) I like to connect them when I can. hehe.
And I looove that song.
