Two weeks after Hurricane Katrina, state troopers rescued 1,400 frozen embryos from a flooded New Orleans fertility clinic. The first set of twins was delivered in December of the following year.

you know people were getting incredibly sick from that flood water. I was there about a month afterword, and met some folk who had to wade through it , and they had al sorts of problems, I wonder how healthy those twins are? also hey I got the first post!

You sure did. :)

I think they were probably in protective casings, as embryos, because embryo have to be sooo carefully attended too. I think it's different then wading right in it.

Aww, kids are great.

It's the bad parents who give kids a bad name. :)

What I don't understand are the families that have like ten children. Now that's just excessive. It made sense when kids were working the farm or what not, but at this point, I don't get it.

I'm guessing it was a fertility clinic where a couple goes together and they do what they can to get the embroys to be cerated outside fo the womb and then place them later.

I left New Orleans on August 28th, 3 hrs before Katrina made landfall - my spaceship and I took refuge in Galveston, TX before we got chased by Rita and Wilma - 1400 rescued embryos are nice although 30 patients in a nursery at Huma haven't been that lucky -
Now living in Cali the news are refering to 'Katrina-like' conditions when it rains here. I was about to drive to the broadcast center to shove my pictures of my destroyed house up this fucking idiot's ass.

Don't get me wrong...I think its great that they saved the embyros, but isnt' that just like the Bush administration? They bend over backwards to save non-sentient groupings of cells, but the actual children suffering in the aftermath of the hurricane were pretty much on their own. Its always "love the fetus, hate the child" with those people.

And re the cartoon, I've always preferred the Warner Bros. stuff. Mickey is just too cutesy for good cartoons. YOu need that soupcon of evil that Bugs brings to the picture.

Oh, absolutely. *nod* It's a terrible mess. I just like to focus on anything positive that came out of such a tragedy. Especially when so much of the tragedy could have been prevented by quick government involvment.

And true enough. ;)

There're triplets in Beauty and the Beast... And they're gorgeous.

i love Disney sooo much, and Beauty and the Beast is my favourite and i haven't seen it in years 'cause i let my cousin barrow it when he was 3 (he's 5 now, i think) and they've had another child. If i would've known it was all a ploy to steal my disney, i'd have given them NOTHING!!! They took my 101 Dalmation, too. :( At least i still have Aladdin.
