We have a spider on our tree, made out of gold and crystal beads... with a tinsel "web." The story that came with it tells of the spiders from this family's attic that came down after they decorated the tree, and crawled all over it to look at the beautiful lights and ornaments. They were sad when they saw how dusty and spiderwebby they had made the tree, and the good fairy of christmas or something like that took pity on them and turned their webs to gold and silver, and that's where tinsel came from.

We don't use tinsel, we think its kinda silly and wasteful, but we have a little cluster with our christmas spider. =)

I got a new bonsai tree and a book on bonsai trees along with it. They're slowly becoming a hobby of mine, although it's difficult since I'm living in a college dorm and most don't like to grow indoors. I have a feeling one day I'll have a backyard littered with bonsai trees...
