Old trick. I occasionally use it to freak less tech savvy friends out.
lol. Apparently I'm not tech savvy at all then.
I just tried it, no wonder I get so many calls for an airplane company, I have their old phone number! hahaha
lol! There ya go! ;)
I used to have the number for a blood bank.
That makes me nervous.
Like... it could be helpful, if it was just your friends er whatever.... but..... bad things could come outta that.
Seriously. I don't like it.
Yeah, I reposted this for my friends.
That is tres creepy!
Holy crap!! Not cool! Did you put in the request to have the # removed?
I tried this for friends and it worked. I tried for myself and it didn't. The difference is that my phone number has never been listed to begin with.
Once again my paranoia serves in my favor.
Spartans are hawt.
Holy shit. Shouldn't they have to ask permission first? This is ridiculous. And how did they get our private information without our consent? That should be illegal.
I think if it's listed in a telephone book, it's available, but I mean it's something to live in the area and look someone up, but something else entirely to look them up online.
It's new to me and creeped me the heck out!
Thanks for the info. I did it and will tell my family.

Hard for me to get worked up about this
since it's all been publically availble on the Internet for years before Google Maps.

Re: Hard for me to get worked up about this
Creeps me out.
This is not right. However, if you are listed in the phone book, that information is also in there. Now I need to get my name out of the phonoe book too!
THANK YOU for this tidbit. I am going to repost on my LJ as well (with credit to you).
My phone doesn't come up--but I only have a cell.
And that Youtube...yum.
That's scary! . . . my number doesn't come up, though.
Good to hear. My cell didn't but the landline did. No more!
That's crazy. Thanks for the heads-up.
It's the same thing as a reverse search on 411.ca, only quicker to get to. This stuff isn't new! I dunno though, I don't really feel like I have anything to be worried about. If someone wanted my info they could find it in a zillion ways... but I can't think of any reason I should be afraid of people knowing where I live.
I just don't like the idea of my kid having his telephone number on his backpack, and having some creepy person looking him up or something.
