All right!

I am two months behind, but I didn't forget. ;)

For those of you new to my journal, the first of each month ( Or you know, when I get around to it.. ;) ) I post the stats for who had the first comment to each of my entries the most times! Those in first and second place get a bit o' recognition for their mad commenting skills.

For September we have in first place esme with 3 first posts! And tied in second place with 2 first posts each we have everette1_ , phekkin_nej , zibacco , theprimrosepath , and rinnychan .

And in October the winner was once again esme with FIVE first posts! And the threeway tie for second place with three posts each goes to: twoforone , electrosoundwav and everette1_ .

Well done everybody! And it all starts up again today, because believe it or not, it's freakin' November!

Here, have some pretty and fun opera. :)

And.. well. it speaks for itself really.

Die Zauberflöte!

I'm living/studying in Berlin right now and I just saw that at the Deutsche Oper a few weeks ago!
I really enjoyed the production, but a lot (and a mean a LOT) of my friends didn't

I don't really know exactly
well, for one part it was written with one main "villianous" character in black face
which i can understand as being very offensive, though I think the director meant it to VERY sardonic
(there's a lot of black = bad / white = good symbolism stuff throughout the opera)

other people had different problems with it, it was pretty modernist, i guess - but I haven't read the liberetto and nor do I really speak German (I only have 6 weeks of class under my belt!) so I didn't always know exactly what was going on
(though i was told a summary during the intermission)

Oooh, that could be offensive but you have to look at the context, I think.

Interesting. Was the singing and acting good?
