For all my Alan Rickman lovers out there. You know who you are. ;)
And fact of the day:
By the end of the Civil War 33 percent of all U.S. paper currency in circulation was counterfeit. This was a devasating situation for a nation struggling to recover economically from such a difficult war. On July 5th 1865, the Secret Service was created as a part of the department of treasury to help suppress counterrfeit currency.
(And I have a weeeird feeling of deja vu, and I'm not sure if it's because I've posted this before, or if it was just remembering copying down the fact, so if you've read this twice, mea culpa. :) )
