PPS - I can Sign pretty well & fake spanish
I used to be fluent in ASL, but haven't interpreted professionally for about 10 years, so have lost some of my receptive abilities. I can still sign fluently; I just have trouble understanding what someone is signing back to me. :(
*nod* Bummer. :( I have a friend that used to interpret for plays and musicals and that was always really cool to watch.
How does ASL differ from sign language in other countries?
i read/write french and also understand it spoken. i haven't used it in so long that i'm afraid it's leaving me.
i suppose technically i can speak it, but mostly i just turn pink and frozen with panic. =P
lol! Je vois. ;)
I wish I retained more of it. My teacher was not very good, so I have some bad memories assosciated with it because of her.
I know how to be extremely offensive in French, Spanish, Arabic and Tagalog (and English, of course).
I know enough Spanish and French to buy things, ask where stuff is and be reasonably polite (although I've got a toddler's vocabulary, for the most part).
And I know how to say "these clothes are unacceptable" in Hindii.
LOL. That's awesome. :)
Teach me how to be offensive?
viggo mortenson is officially my hero :<
i can speak english sort of, german i can comprehend but am not comfortable speaking, and swedish i am working on. i'd say i can comprehend/speak it as well as a baby could
my french is the worst. i cannot even read it to save my life. my sister, who speaks french, makes fun of me constantly for it :D
That's awesome though! I bet you're a lot better then you give yourself credit for. Cool variety of languages too!
LOL> Isn't it fab? I really like it. Do you know how to make animated icons? ;)
I'm mostly English. I took two years of Spanish and remember not a word from it. Go figure.
I can, however, say select, flirty phrases in Chinese (Mandarin), less, but still just as flirty phrases in Japanese and a few select ones in Korean. Now I just need to marry a boy that speaks Korean and we can move to China for a year and I will be the happiest camper ever (o:
Oh, added bonus, I can tell people to go to hell or to die in Fijian. lol this has not yet been useful, but may some day.
I love that movie!! What one earth would you do with an icon like that, though? (o:
In Fijian? That's random! Awesome!
I bet you remember the basics from Spanish. Hello.. goodbye, etc. hehe. Even I know those. ;)
Ooh! That's from a movie?? What movie?
I think it's awesome. LOL. When I'm annoyed, or posting about violence or something, it'd be perfect.
English, German, French, Spanish fluently.
Started learning Russian in the 80s, but got lazy. I remember basically none of it.
I'd like to learn Japanese before I go back for my next visit there.
WOW! I guess you win!
I'm impressed. :)
Awesome :) Like you could go to Mexico and communicate wiht anyone?
I know a few phares in spanish, french and japenese but not enough to call myself fluent. And I speak "American" not English! (mocking stupid people)
Wow, as if I didn't have enough reasons to love Viggo as it is. Very cool.
Too bad the only other language I speak is bad high school French.
I used to speak Quenya okay...or mostly knew quite a few useful phrases. It's one of Tolkien's elvish languages. My boyfriend and I used to write notes when we were 15 in a weird combination of elvish/french/english ... it was fun :D. I know some indonesian, quite a bit of french and a few words in other languages. I'd love to learn another language fluently though, but it's so hard!
If you're after interesting language facts, try seeing what Wikipedia says about second language aquisition ... there's like a timer in your brain that expires at a certain age which makes learning language a lot harder. If you're not exposed to a language at all by about 16, you'll never be able to speak properly. Anyway, that's what I've been doing in class so hooray for random tangents!
anyone who's danish swedish or norwegian can speak the other two languages reasonably well.they're considered dialects of the same language by one linguistic definition of languages...
You rocked it out! :)
I totally want to take French again. I know Itunes is doing this new free oline college thing where you can dwnload stuff onto itunes that;s like courses?
I wonder if there's downloadable French courses.
I speak Chinese, English, and French fluently. I know German and Italian reasonably well and am learning Russian and Greek (ancient & modern). :] i like languages.
Holy wow! That's SERIOUSLY impressive!!!
