Yeah. *nod* Overall I really loved it though. I can see the definite space for more detail.
They were sold out and i cried (not a lot! Just a bit!!) 'cause i suck at life like that. Haha.
We're goign today, but not til later 'cause my friend's boyfriend wants to come, and i'm such a nice person that even though i don't like him, i'll wait til evening to see my Snape so he can watch too. *grumbles* That, and i'd rather not be on my own in a crowded theatre. I'm a grump today. and last night. and i will be til HP7 comes out and i';ve finished it. And i'm betting there will be a bit of depression after that 'cause... it's over. :(
*hugs* Excited to hear your opinin when you get to it. :)
That IS the cutest bunny ever! Awww...
I realized today that I not only haven't read the last book, but I haven't seen the last movie either. They both came out while I was traveling and didn't have time for it. I'll have to get on that. I'm seeing the movie on Saturday and am very excited (o:
Also I've noticed half the people in my office who went to see the midnight showing are late/calling in "sick".
lol. I had like 2 hours of sleep, but it was worth it.
You've got some catch up to do. ;)
It definitely could have been longer, but I still loved it.
i haven't seen thenew movie, and don't plan to. i read the books up until.. i think the last one i haven't read. i read them out of complete lack of anything else to read. they were "meh". i have seen the first movie and part of the 2nd, and they pissed me off tremendously because the acting is terrible, etc etc... really i think my imagination is just a million times better than hollywood could ever be :D
i guess it's good to see people embracing a cultural phenomena (the whole HP appeal etc) that could be (and was when it came out i think) be taken as Heretical.
i hope this post makes sense. work kills my brain somethin fierce. nothing like memorizing numbers for 4 hours just after i roll out of bed D:
When you say the acting is terrible, were you referring to the kids? Or to... Alan Rickman, Richard Harris, Gary Oldman, Jason Isaacs, Maggie Smith, etc?
Any why do you need to memorize #'s? *blinkblink*

Lord Voldemort Rules! Go Death Eaters!!!
Bring on the book and the movie. I love Harry Potter. Although a friend of mine had to pretty much force me to read the first book. Normally when I buy literature detailing the events at a British boarding school, the students are using a different kind of wand, you know? ;)
I have this weird theory that Dumbledore wasn't actually killed and will come back as his brother Aberforth. But that's pretty far fetched. And both Ron and Hermione are going to snuff it...maybe. Actually, if she kills anybody besides Voldemort its going to be Harry, just so she can stop writing these things.

Re: Lord Voldemort Rules! Go Death Eaters!!!
I avoided them like hell too, but finally decided to read it, and the rest was history. I like them muchly. :)
I think Dumbles might be okay.. Phoenix tears heal, you know, and Fawkes was wailing.
Also.. doesn't someone have to HATE someone to successfully do the avada kadevra curse? That certain person who dispelled it was part of the oder, you know? It could have been reheased even.
I'm posting without looking at the rest of the comments because I haven't seen the latest movie (doing so tomorrow).
Anyways, Harry Potter! I'm excited. Unfortunately I'm going to be out of the country when the last book comes out, but I have my theories. All I will say is that after discussing the 6th book extensively with the Harry Potter club at my school, I have come to the conclusion that Harry is a Horcrux and in order for Voldemort to have no chance of coming back Harry will have to die. Ron and Hermione will get married (who hasn't seen that coming?)
But I'm going to see the movie tomorrow and will read the book the second I get back from China, and all will be well. I'm not going to talk to a single person when I get back until I've read the book, to minimize the risk of spoilers.
I'm excited to hear hat you think of the movie! :)
-- And oh my gosh. I'd delay the trip to China. LOL. ;)
You're braver then me. I know I'd find out spoilers way before I wanted too and such.
Also, do you think that the trio's gonna survive, then?
I think this is my favorite movie they've made so far. I'm a really huge fan of the Marauders though, so I was disappointed that Snape's Worst Memory was cut out. It was basically reduced to...nothing. I love Snape to pieces though. he's my favorite in the book and movie.
Could Sirius Black be any more huggable? The winks killed me lol. I don't like how he died though. I hated it in the book because you had to reread it like five times just to make sure he was really gone. In the movie, I wasn't aware that he was dead until he vanished into the veil... which wasn't even a veil btw.
Harry and Voldemort are going to die. And I think Hagrid will too.
I was SOOO bummed about the second of Marauders. That was my main complaint, actually. lol.
I couldn't believe how small that, was and where the hell was Lily sticking up for Snape? I felt that was really important. grr.
Yeah. Sadness abounded. I love Sirius though, I got more of him then I expected, and I was so happy for it.
I think they're both gonna die too. And I think at least one of the twins will die, and I think Molly might be a goner too. And probably Luna.
LOVED Harry Potter.
The only thing I REALLY didn't like was where he has Voldemort inside him at the end and he said something like "But I have something you don't, love!" CHEESY
Also, Sirius death was sort of...anti-climactic? Don't know how to explain.
Helena Bonham Carter, BEST CASTING EVAH. She was awesome! I also squealed when they showed Azkaban in the ocean. So cool!
Definitely the best movie yet.
I loved it too. :)
And I kinda liked the cheese.. lol.
And I think they meant it to be a little anticlimactic... Death usually is in real life. Just.. shitty. :(
-- And.. eh. I thought she looked the part perfectly. I'm not sure I was that impressed with her performance. I'm really usually not though.
She has a tendency to get on my nerves, but I had high hopes for her in this role, but she didn't meet them for me.
Delores Umbridge on the other hand, she was amazing. I was SO impressed by her!!
i saw the decemberists at the hollywood bowl with a full orchestra and it was soooooooooo epic.
please see them if you get the chance; it is cry-worthy :)
Oooh! I would love too! I actually just randomly discovered them due to a random wikipedia entry a few months ago, and I love so much of their music ! I shall keep an eye open. :)
now that that's out of the way
the movie wasn't half-bad
i mean, of course it wasn't that detailed! i wish it could be, but there's just too much to fit in one movie without making it 8 hours long!
all the movies are shallow in that sense - they only have time to jump from one plot point to the next
oh and my theory?
(1) i bet Harry is the last horcrux, so he has to die in order to kill Voldemort
(2) Snape is good in the end, and Dumbledore wanted Snape to kill him
(3) Sirius and Dumbledore are dead, they can't come back to life because if that were possible, Voldemort could just do that and he wouldn't have to split his soul
however, i do think Dumbledore might come back like Obi-Wan did - as a ghost-y guy who pops in with helpful and profound comments and convenient times
and and the 7th book is going to be so bittersweet - i can't wait!
I agree! They could have made it a bit longer, but overall I was really impressed. I thought this was a great adaptation of the book.
And it's going to be reeeeally bittersweet.
1. A popular theory, certianly! I can definitely see it. I guess we'll know ina couple weeks. ;)
2. I've got mixed feelings on this. :)
3. Mixed feelings on this too, in part related to #2. hehe
Who else do you think is a goner?
the movies could never ever be as good or detailed as the books, but i think that with each one the movies are getting better as the actors get older. however, i'm not a fan of emma watson and her crazy eyebrows. i mean, come on, calm down girl.
harry and cho's kiss!!! it was great. kind of melodramatic, but great.
as far as the books go, i've grown up reading them, grown up anticipating the next one and going to the midnight parties. this last book is the end of an era...the end of my childhood, really, which is pretty depressing. but i can't wait! i've been avoiding reading people's theories of what is going to happen, because i want to be completely surprised. although i still hold the steadfast opinion that sirius is not dead. he just...can't be.
lol. I like Emma, actually. I think she's gotten better. I was SO impressed with how much Daniel had improved.
The kiss was quite the kiss! Sooo much kissing! lol. I mean, like pretty passionate for a harry potter movie. haha
I don't want him to be dead either.
My only hope is that if he is dead, and Harry dies too we get to see him in some sort of Wizardy afterlife. lol
The last movie was my favorite of ALL the movies, but it was missing some great parts. :( but, that is to be expected. It was WAY better than number 2 anyhow. The next movie is based on my least favorite book, so I ma not sure how I feel about that. Yeah, it progresses the plot, but Harry was such a whiney emo in the book he started to annoy me.
However, I am really looking forward to the 7th book. I am SO EXCITED. I am a Snape supporter (hooray for Snape!) and think he will play a vital role. I have been trying to figure out the horocruxes, and what role Kretcher is going to play (because he IS definitely going to be a major plot point in book seven, I can feel it)
There is just SO MUCH about book 7 I cannot wait for. But its a little sad too. :( The last Harry Potter. And what if...no, I can't say it...but what if Harry...you know. :(
Regardless, cannot wait.
He's way less emo in the movie then he is in the book. He's got his moments, but I wasn't as annoyed as I was in the book, and every time he started it was like the film maker new it wasn't gonna work to have him that way and keep him that way, so he had something funny happen. I approved. :)
At least they included Kreacher in the newest movie. I was starting to get worried with all the stuff they've dropped out in the past.
It is a little sad, but I think it's a good thing too. It's been so long, it's time I think. I'm excited, but a little meloncholy too.
When do you think you're gonna head to the newest one?
So much that was wrong or missing....
-The Kiss! WTF?! In the RoR?
-What about Quiddich? And the lifetime ban?! IMPORTANT!!!!!
-Sirius' death. WTF? There's not even a real veil there.
-The whole ministry fight-sequency thing. Totally. Fucked. Up.
So yeah. Those are my main complaints. Very good movie, but not a good book-to-movie.
I actually loved it.
What was your issue with the kiss?
And yeah, there was that whole quidditch thing, missing. That was important.
I kind of liked Sirius's death, actually. *shrug* I know that's been a big complaint for people. I love Gary Oldman's Sirius so much though. He's just artful, his acting. Even given a corny wavy watery effect around him, and he's still good.
What parts did you like?
My main issue is that they cut the flashback down sooooooo much for Snape. I wanted to see Lily helping him. grr.
