|||||Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy - Andrews Sisters||]|
Darn! I was going to do this cool LJ meme where it posts everyone's user pics, but unfortunately it stopped at the N's... so I'll have to try that one a different day when the computer's behaving better.
So instead... I guess you get another historical fact!
The violinist and composer Tartini dreamed that he handed his violin to the Devil and listened while the Devil played a sonata of astonishing beuaty. When he tried to reproduce the sonata on awakning, he could only remember one repeated trill. He used this trill as his theme in his "Trillo del Diavolo".
- When was your last nightmare? Mine was last night. Someone electrocuted my septuplets. *boggles*
And here's the Andrews Sister's doing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Awesomeness. :)
( Eta the link. Whoops. LOL There ya go!)
Wow that was some nightmare!
It must have been a night for nightmares. Someone else on my flist had weird dreams last night, too... I've been lucky and not had as many lately, but I did have one not long before I woke up, about my middle son, and I sure hope it doesn't have anything to do with what might be happening. I just have had him on my mind lately.
That is a really interesting story about Tartini's "Trillo del Diavolo!" I did not know that. (I played violin as a child. I can't play anymore).
I loved The Andrews Sisters! I grew up listening to them, and Elvis and the Inkspots ... we were pretty eclectic.
I've never heard of the Inkspots. What kind of music are they?
I was really lucky to grow up around eclectic music too. :) Beatles, Coltrane, Chopin and Sound of Music all the way! lol. ;) I think a variety of music is soooo good for kids. :)
And yeah! Seriously, looking at everyone's posts, it definitely has been a night ( or couple of nights) for nightmares. Tons, left and right. Does Mercury being in retrograde cause nightmares? I really don't know any of that stuff... Bad times though. Gah. I hate nightmares.
And so cool! I just got a violin a few months ago, but between working, mom'ing, friending, lj'ing, etc. I haven't really learned anything on it yet. One of these days I'll get around to it. You're familiar with Tartini's piece then? Did you feel any evil while playing it? ;)
And yeah. My nightmare was AWFUL.
