Inés de Castro was a Spanish woman who fell in love with Pedro, the son of Afonso IV, king of Portugal. The king hated that his son was in love with Inés and had her murdered in 1355. Several years later, when King Afonso died and Pedro became king, Inés’s rotting body was unearthed and propped up on the queen’s throne.

And awesomeness. I'm gonna have to remember that next time my kid throws a fit.

Creepy. "Till death do us part" is in the vows for a reason. Besides, who wants a freaky skeleton queen? Unless its a comic book story of course, and then more skeleton queens please.

Oh, I miss watching British TV.  The worst ads were never as bad as the worst American ones; and the best ones were plain awesome.

I read about this in a book. Sex with Kings by Eleanor Herman, she has a follow up book, Sex with The Queen. I believe that Ines was later crowned so that their children could become Pedro's heirs. The stipulation from Rome was that she would have had to be crowned queen. I guess they thought that he wouldn't do it...they thought wrong apparently.

Ooh, very interesting! I love that he loved her that much.

& the commercial, fucking hilarious! There was a little boy that kept sticking his tongue out at everyone as he walked down the sidewalk and when he did it to me, I stuck my tongue out at him and he seemed very surprised! :p

Totally cool that he loved her but.. I don't know if I'd want a man to love me enough to draw my corpse from the ground to sit beside him on the throne, you know? LOL

And lol, funny!
