And ewwww.

An office desk (supposedly, Lord I hope it's not true) has 400 times more bacteria then a toilet.

And my desk is a mess. I don't like this factoid. Not one bit.

It's not about the amounts of bacteria, it's the kinds. There's more (and often nastier) types of bacteria found in the human mouth than up your rectum, and some of the nasties that live in our saliva are there purely to take up the space so other, illness-causing types don't move in.

The majority of bacteria is harmless, with a fair percentage being helpful to the human body. If your desk is covered with E.Coli, streptomyacin and the fun things that cause cholera, Ebola and diphtheria there could be an issue, but once again those bacteria are on EVERYTHING we touch anyway, it's the concentration that will cause sickness, that and a personal susceptibility.
