At one time in India, a fiancee wa srequired to deflower his future bride if she died before her wedding. The girl could not be cremated until this ritual was carried out in front of the village priest.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is true, though. :\ (And, eeeeewwww. Talk about taking 'love you to death' too seriously.)

I mean, it makes sense. You don't want to send a bride into the next life unconsumated. It's kind of like placing coins on eyes to pay the dead's way across the river stix. Just grosser.

Hahaha, i totally told my best friend "If i die a virgin... My closest male friend is gunna hafta sex me. I hope you know." (which is extra bad 'cause he's gay)... He told me "I won't be friends with you when you die, then."

My backup friend agreed. *hugs him* That's friendship, right there.

Huzzah!

And books are the greatest!! I'm currently reading Neil Gaiman's "Stardust", and it's -wonderful-.... they're making it into a movie and i think it comes out in 6 days, heh.... it's like a beautiful fairytale and i looooove it. I'm only about half done, and it came yesterday, so... i'm slackin'! If you get a chance, i highly recommend it!

I went to one of those ceremonies once and they're just awful. Its sad enough to have to watch the desecration of some poor virgin's corpse, but the worst part isn't even the necrophilia. They actually serve refreshments during the whole thing and frankly the last thing you need while watching a guy deflower his dead fiancee is a spicy curry dish. Not to mention the fact that no matter how many stores I went to, nobody had a Hallmark card suitable for the occasion.

That's cause you didn't call 1-800-FLOWERS. You could have brought some white roses with their card that reads "A Flower For Her Deflowerment." Although I personally would have gone with "Sympathy (and Congratulations!) on Laying Her Down" or "I'm So Sorry For Your Loss - You Da Man!!"
