What's the last sample you received in the mail? [Mar. 25th, 2007|09:44 am]
[mood |hurried]
[music |me, rushing out the door!]

Jayne Mansfield decorated her "Pink Palace" by writing to 1,500 furniture and building suppliers and asking for free samples. She told the donors they could then brag that their goods were in her outlandish mansion. The pitch worked, and Jayne received over $150,000 worth of free merchandise.

And a talking parrot. Who doesn't like a talking parrot?

I never get samples, despite the fact that I write people constantly claiming to be Jayne Mansfield and requesting them. Apparently that was a one time deal...

And that parrot was amazing. Have you heard about that other African Grey named Alex? Its amazing how intelligent those birds can be.

Heh. I bet if you really did you might get a sample or two just out of pure amusement from those you wrote too.

And nope, I'm not up in the talking Animal world just yet. Still gazing in from the periphery. Have you a link?

Here's the wiki link:

It basically comes down to the same argument they had about Koko the gorilla. Are these animals really communicating with us or do we just want to see that? Personally I think gorillas and chimps probably can use language, but who knows about Alex. Still, some of the stuff he can do is uncanny.
