Back to back, Belly to belly... [Jan. 6th, 2007|12:30 am]

[music |Zombie Jamboree]

Some 4,000 would be bridegrooms in India set off for a traditional “marriage bazaar” in Saurath in northern Bihar state in search of end-of-the-season bargains from the guardians of women who previously failed to attract a husband. Only 10 to 15 prospective grooms found a match, however, Village elders said the others hurt their chances with inflated dowry demands.

And I consider that false advertising. If my car can't do that by pressing a little button in the interior, I think someone should give me a full refund...

I'd buy a car that could do that so fast...given I had the money of course.

That car stole my dance moves!

Not really. This car would totally serve me, yo. I said bring it and this car brought it and a bag of chips, put it on the table with the dip and opened it. Meanwhile, I cried in a corner.

Anyhow, it appeals to the inner transformer fan that i am. I wonder if the "Dancing Robot" button is standard or only comes with the LX model.

Re: That car stole my dance moves!

LOL! Yeah. I'm guessing it was subliminally supposed to appeal to the transformers crowd.

There was a girl at our company who's parents had found a bride for her brother and she then promised herself that she would not follow the traditional match-making procedures of her family/religion.

Five years later, they brokered a marriage for her with a suitable fellow. She was very happy with him, she admitted to having fallen in love with him, and seemed quite pleased.

Those of us ladies at work who have been married (some of us for several decades, some of us multiple times) pretty much agreed (and assured her) that the method was as good as any for finding a husband.

lol, yeah, as long as they're happy with each other. A dear friend of mine's family arranged a marriage for him, with a girl he had never met, back from Bangladesh. They married within 15 minutes of meeting each other, and are now both completely unhappy.

It depends on the circumstance as always.

Oh - yeah, well they DID give her a chance to say no, and they had a chance to court and know each other and figure out if they were suitable for each other first. It was a year before they were actually married.

Oh Shiva the shame! Every year they send me off to this thing and I never, ever attract a husband. I do my best to look pretty and wear the finest sari possible, but no matter what I do I still look like a white American guy pretending to be an Indian woman.

And I find that "inflated dowry" comment downright offensive. I'm totally worth two cows and a box of Nag Champa inscence, at least.

LOL!

Better luck next year my dear. Try a red sari. That really gets them rarin' to go.
