I'll see you next year! [Dec. 31st, 2006|07:47 pm]
[Current Location |workin for the man]
[music |R&B.. Not sure who the artist is. Has a nice beat]

Heh. Dr Phil in a can. Wow. For any of you out there that are having trouble coping with the fam this holiday season. ;)

"Memory" from the musical Cats has become a contemporary classic. It's been professionally recorded over 600 times. This includes international hits for such artists as Barbara Streissand, Barry Manilow, and Judy Collins. It's most recent incantations underline it's universal appeal as a #1 dance smash by European artist Natalie Grant and as a duet for Placido Domingo and Natalie Cole during a leve telecast of the Tenors World Tour.

(And, random's note... I freaking hate that show. Any peices of theatre you just can't stand?)

I prefer Sondheim. I hate Cats. Mamma Mia. Wicked.

I hate anything that people say is so much more brilliant than anything else written before it.

How about Gilbert and Sullivan? or... Rodgers and Hammerstein? Rodgers and Hart? How about a bazillion OTHER composers and lyricists who wrote much more intelligent shows that don't pander to the lowest bidder? Grr...

Give me a classic any day.

I prefer Sondheim too, but I like Wicked, and the classics.

Most people consider Sondheim more genius then those before him, do you disagree with or dislike the idea of that? Or is it about the more modern musicals you're talking about?

Re: Happy New Years, love!

I don't hate it, but I certainly don't love it either. ;)

It's a worse stage show then film. *shudder* It's Raining on Prom Night? Wth was that?

And happy new years darling. Hope it's safe, and grand.

I'm not sure we'd get along theatrically speaking... ;)

Those are like 3 of my absolute favorites.

What shows do you like?

There aren't too many I universally hate. I dont really like Pippin (but i love the music), I think Peter Pan is a pretty sucky musical that could have been better.

Oh. You know what I actually kind of hate but everyone else loves? Rocky Horror Picture Show. We almost did it for my senior year college musical. And even though I probably would have gotten Janet, I rallied together the musical theatre people and got the school to do Into the Woods instead. LOL

WOOHOO! Into The Woods is a MUCH better choice. Rocky Horror can be fun, but it isn't really quality musical theatre.

I friggin hate "Camelot" with every beat of my heart.

The only good song in the whole play is "Fie!" and even that one is fairly shitty,...

Thank god Ive never had to endure BEING in that play and having to learn it by rote.. Id probably go mad and go on a killing spree.

Aww. I actually love Camelot. Not one of my absolute favorites but in my top 15, I'd say. I love Gueneviere's songs.

I dont like Cats either, I keep doing shows in which the dancers do songs from it, but BORING!

I do like other Lloyd Webber stuff though, like Phantom, and Sunset Boulevard...
Love Les Mis, Avenue Q, Sweeney Todd and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.

Christians RAWK (?)

I love Godspell...the funkiest rendition of the Book of Matthew you'll ever hear. I love the song, "Turn back Old Man" it just kinda oozes sex.
I like Oklahoma. Something to sing loudly in public when you feel like irritating the passerby.
