I would love to see pictures of that first perm. Not to mention smell the chemicals involved. Though maybe, on second thought, I could skip that part...

My mom used to perm all the local ladies hair for some reason when I was a kid. Practically every other day when I came home there would be that smell.

Did you know that stuff can also straighten hair? One of my roommates hated his semi-curly hair. So we experimented and sure enough, if you just come it straight out instead of using the rollers it relaxes instead of curling.
