Goldfish......

Goldfish live in Thirty second interfulls. They do not have any memory past that point. After some of the things I have gone through I would probably like the thirty second memory....But Dragon fly only lives for 24 hours??? Thats crazy, and kinda sad. At least they get to fly for that 24 hours.

Re: Goldfish......

the goldfish thing is a myth not a fact via mythbusters. Fruitfly are like that too only 24 hours before they die .

I wonder if we are like dragonflies? because they are so small, so the world goes by around them so fast. What if the picture is actually beyond our world? What if we are dragonflies, and what we consider to be a full life is merely 24 hours to something else?

I was wondering the same thing, actually. Life is so fragile, and so fleeting.

I love dragonflies. In the summer there's always a few by my pool. They come land on my finger and it's cute. The life of a dragonfly is pretty boring though. There's a lot of things that should have lifespans that short. Like if reincarnation really occurs, people could just be a dragonfly and flutter about for a day and then move onto something else. It's a fun thought. This made no sense. Loving the posts as always!

I don't know how I feel about reincarnation. I used to think it was a really great idea.. but I like the idea of going to heaven and having my Mom greet me there, you know? Everything shifts.. your beliefss and everything when you lose someone you loved so much.

No I don't believe in it either, I was just giving an example. I lost my best friend on christmas, so i definetly know the feeling of wanting to see someone that you lost unexpectedly. How are you doing, by the way? I can't even imagine, but you seem to be recovering well.

Yeah, I'm not really. I'm putting up a big front. I'm doing really awful, actually.

A note on reincarnation: it is not uncommon for souls to meet in more than one life. The possibilities are endless. Some souls travel together through many lives, others just through one, but no matter what we learn from those we have encountered.

How closely does what you want to believe and what you actually believe correlate?

And Mayflys too!
Like the Rasputina song "The fly of may, it lives one day, when the day is done, mayfly does not complain, it flies into the setting sun and goes back to the place from which it came...that's all you get, you give no thought to it" <3

It makes us seem immortal in comparison, doesn't it? I love Rasputina, btw :).

Their life span has little to do with their population. Mosquitos only life for about 3 days if I recall and it's not like the mosquito population is hurting. Also, there are sea-turtles that live to be around 400 years old, but their number is dwindling.
