[mood |amusedamused]
[music |We Can Dance If We Want Too..]

When a man died in ancient Egypt, the females in his family would smear their heads and faces with mud and wander through the city beating themselves and tearing their clothing.

And man... everyone should click that.

I giggle soooo hard.

Now imagine if the same thing applied to the US today. I'd like to see that coming out of the mall, or something. Heh.

Note: Folding Tables Make Poor Dancefloors.

Watching that I noticed around 5 mishaps involved jumping up on furniture and at least 4 a lack of spatial sense (i.e. the guy swinging his partner by the legs into an end table - like dude, objects are as close as they appear).

It was funny, but having had a few silly but painful mishaps myself the ow factor hit too close to home.

well i guess there's more than one way to mourn....but why only the females? it's still kinda like that huh. sometimes the males are afraid to show grief.

hahahaha. i love dancing. that's why we dance though. to make fools of ourselves.

I don't know. I know in the Bible that grief was shown in a similar way.. I mean when Jacob thought Joseph to be dead he tore his clothes. *shrug*

Then I fully succeed at dancing, if the endeavor is to make a fool of oneself. hehe. I'm like Elaine from Seinfield when it comes to dancing.

In ancient Egypt you could actually hire professional mourners for funerals, as well. They were women who would basically do exactly what you just described only for total strangers as long as the money was good.

i noticed how many people danced with chairs.. chairs make poor partners... they always seem to fall out from under... same with tables... and a lot of the crazy dudes going insane.. don't dance anywhere NEAR them... they cause domino effects. ouch.. that made my head hurt.

I wonder what they did when a woman died?

The worst funeral in Egypt would be if you were Pharoah's favorite personal slave and he bit the big one. They'd kill you too so you could continue serving in the afterlife.
