[music |Because I'm Married Now]

I love thrift stores.

I would, if I could,
But I can't, Why?
Because I'm married now.
I bid all those things get behind me,
When I took the marriage vow.
I'd join the bunch,
and I'd go to luncheon,
But I've got a hunch.
That I might get a puncheon,
I would, if I could,
But I can't, Why?
Because I'm married now.

Apparently it was "Introduced by the peerless comedienne Miss Mabel Hite" and appears to be autographed by a Mabel Extrand.

So there... or something.

Off topic completely but it's random, right?

I was curious about Zoot Suit Riot, so I downloaded... and boy... I'm hooked.

There is something so liberating about singing nonsense at the top of your voice... in your underpants... at half one in the morning.

Liberating and scary.

When I was a single girl,
had shoes of the very best kind.
Now I am a married girl,
Go barefoot all the time.
Wish I was a single girl again.

Your post reminded me of this song. I guess things don't change all that much, do they?

They really don't. I love it.

Reminds me of Paula Cole's Where Have all the Cowboys gone too.

Wow. I haven't heard that song in ages. But it certainly would be a more modern equivalent!

We don't use the term op-shop.. does that mean second hand store, or thrift shop? I like going to the ones in smaller towns, because the ones in the different cities are SO much more expensive. You can find lots of really awesome things for cheap. LKots of antiques. My sister loves Gone with The Wind, and I found her a book that came out with the movie in the THIRTIES in pretty decent condition... and got it for 50 cents. So... pretty great, when you come across the awesome stuff. I got a pair of gloves from the 20's I believe for $2. I love antiques, I love books, I love furniture... it's all very dangerous. ;)
