Definitely prevent the murder of my best friend from highschool. While making sure that that didn't mean those bastards just stole someone else's car and did the same thing to them.
Cause that would still suck.
I would say what happened in Columbine. That should not ever happen :(
Agreed, that was very sad,and I think it triggered the majority of school shootings after it..
get back in the kitchen!
ps put the shackles back on!
psps where did you find clothes?
making sure that hitlers parents never met
stop john bonnahm from drinking himself to death just so i could say ive seen zeppelin live
not a real big historical thing just a selfish indulgance on my part
Just call me Dr. Who: 9-11. Don't know why I pick that, but I couldn't think of a 'tragedy' that I could actually stop in the same way.
selfishly..I'd stop what happened with my parents..then thought some more..that might equal me never having my daughter..and though my life has been less than peachy many many times...I'd NEVER chance losing her..sorry mom and dad..should have made better decisions on your own
I immediately thought of the tragedy with the most loss of life, so I say the Holocaust.
*nod* I think that'd be the one I would choose too.
the holocaust, without a doubt.

ummmm, probably would be wisest not to post my response in a public forum :)
Something to do with the Bushman?
i'm not sure if this has been said...but nothing.
we have all been through shit. but to change it would be to completly erase oursleves.
we are all who we are because of our past. because of our pain. and our joy. however cliche it may sound.
i dont belive in regrets, because i dont belive in faults. i belive reality and truth belong to each individual person. and what is right for me, may be utter sin for another. but thats off the point.
i am what and who i am because of the suffering i have put my self, (or allowed others to put me) through. and becuse of the impact of the suffering of people around me.
It doesn't need to be a personal tragedy though.. there's nothing throughout history that you would want to change?
I don't believe in doing such things. If I had to pick off the top of my head what would be tempting, I would say my grandfather's death/murder, John Lennon's murder, 9-11 or like Vietnam or something. Or maybe Princess Di's accident. But like I said, I don't think it's even a good idea to toy with the idea, cuz things happen just as they must/are supposed to.
Agreed. It's a scary thing to consider... changing history.
I would gather up all the safe-sex education materials I could find, all the scientific data currently available on the HIV virus and samples of all the lastest drugs along with instructions on how to synthesize them. Then I'd go back to about 1965 and start telling anyone who would listen about the coming AIDS crisis, but especially some of the first gay rights groups like the Mattachine society and Daughters of Bilitis. Plus I'd lock up "Patient O", an HIV+ flight attendant who frequented bath houses all over the country in the late 70's/early 80's and is thought to be the one who sparked the epidemic in the gay community (though some think it wasn't him).
Because there is an entire generation of gay men who just aren't there, for the most part. It set the movement for equality back 20 years at least, especially with the evangelicals calling it "god's punishment".
Not to mention the 25 million people its killed worldwide. Or the approximately 41 million people currently infected.
*nod* It's everywhere, in every community and group. It's so sad. :( I pray there's a cure, and I can't help wondering.. if there is and the government is choosing not to make it available, you know?
well, when i first saw the question i was thinking that i'd go and kill a butterfly a couple million years ago and see what changed but now that i've thought more about it i think i might just go back and change myself...make myself cry and let my feelings out...maybe i wouldn't be as messed up as i am now...
The invention of the atom bomb perhaps? Would have prevented a lot of things.
However, im a believer in everything happens for a reason, so i would be a hypocrit to say anything at all really.
That's true. And a lot of things that might still happen...
