To date the worst volcanic eruption occured in 1815, in Indonesia Tambora exploded causing 92,000 deaths most were because of starvation.

Whatever happened to Pompeii? I always thought that was the worst considering it destroyed a whole town. i dunno..just curious..lol

Vesuvius wasn't a particularly big eruption, it was the pyroclastic flows that buried it.

Huge clouds of burning hot ash collapse and race down the mountain side oblitertaing but presving everything.

We went round the excavation and it was amazing

I don't think there were that many people there, though. It was terrible because of how it destroyed everything, but cities were smaller back then.
