What would you do? [Mar. 8th, 2006|12:51 pm]

All right, say that you're in a room, and you are given these instructions.

These are the rules.
If you are tapped once, you must sit down, close your eyes and repeat the rules.
If you are tapped twice, you must stand up, open your eyes, and repeat the rules.
If you are tapped three times, you may do whatever you like.

What would you do if you were tapped three times?

And let's try to keep it somewhat realistic... ;) ie: "I'd fly to Beijing for a sci fic convention!" "I'd kill JFK!" "I'd marry Brad Pitt!" "I'd star in the remake of How to Marry A Millionaire!" etc, would not be acceptable responses. ;)

If you've done this exercise before, kindly don't give it away?

I'm looking forward to reading your responses. :)

Grr! I'm so mad at myself. I didn't make it clear that there's a room full of other people involved as well and that some will have been marked 1, 2, and 3's.

And you as a three are free to do whatever you like in the room.

Now, some of you did this, and kudos to you for that.. but those that didn't... or still would keep what you answered knowing that there are others involved...

Why didn't you, who had the power to do whatever you liked... free your oppressed classmates?

Just something to think on. :)

I think more people actually know the answer, but you make it sound more complicated than it really is.

Yep. ;) Make people second guess themselves, etc.

My sister did it in a class the other day and told me about it, and I thought it would be an interesting thing to post here.

But posting it here and telling people not to "give away" the secret is a very different experiment than putting people in the actual situation and not letting on that there's "a secret."
