The Salvation Army opened a special collection center in Dartington, England for women to donate used brassieres to send to foreign countries. “In Russia, bras cost an absolute fortune” Carol Arthur, a Dartington recycling officer, pointed out. “And in India and Pakistan, the bra is a serious status symbol.”
