The city of Los Angeles estimates the extra police and city services to handle the crowd attending Michael Jackson's funeral will be about two million dollars.

And a caption contest:

It's a looot of money.

And yes, you're right! Others have confirmed. You rock. I had no idea the origin, I just thought it'd make a great caption contest. lol.

And thanks, darling. Sorry I've been away again so long. *hugs* Life just keeps building barriers. Takes a lot of energy for me to tear them down and make a post. It shouldn't but for whatever reason it does right now.

Man, I'm glad Los Angeles is paying for it, and not MY city!

I think I've seen that pic before, along with several others like it, in a comparison of what an average family in different countries will eat over the course of a year. Amirite?

Good to see you posting again. Hope everything's going more smoothly for you now.

The Picture

I've seen that picture in one of my books for summer reading, "All the World Eats". Apparently, that's the food they consume in a WEEK. The United States families made me feel really fat compared to the African families that had literally almost nothing...

"So, in conclusion, my family (expect for everyone in it but me) feels that it was a wise decision to combine the kitchen with the living room to save on our rental payments."

Re: The Picture

"It wasn't untill after they'd unloaded the groceries that they realized what had been done. It took the wongs four hours to eat their way to freedom."

You know I hate to skeap this way about a dead person, but he's gone. When I go no one's gonna flip out the way people are for MJ. Yes I know hpw famous he was and all that. I just seems strange to me.

Father "All this food and no beer :("

I live in the Los Angeles area and am annoyed that the taxpayers are expected to foot the bill. I feel for his family, but think the whole thing was excessive. He was a private person and his memorial was treated like a festival.

OOOH! OOH! I know this picture! It was in a textbook. It's a family of four with all the food they eat in a week. They also had a picture of an American family, and an indigenous family from Central America. (Naturally) the Americans had waaaaaay more food than the other two, the Japanese had way more packaging than the other two, and the indigenous family's consisted almost entirely of raw materials.

So, my caption for this one is: "Packaging is cute!"

i know this one.. it's how much food these people eat every week to feed their family. or maybe it's month? or year? i don't remember. but it's tiny compared to Americans, and huge compared to some countries in Africa.
