I think you deserve a caption contest. =)

(First of all, I can't believe WebMD just sent me an email saying that a pandemic is imminent. Wtf? Figured more info on swineflu.. or excuse me.. h1n1 or whatever it is that the pork industry wants us to use... lol)

CDC talking about the symptoms of swine flu. I think I may have it... But I also thought I had SARS back in the day. So do you have these symptoms?

And let's double the scientific youtubes.

An experiment on homophobia. Fascinating!

No symptoms here. I'm in Texas, but have not heard of anybody, except in the news, who has actually gotten sick.

To give you some perspective, there are over 24,000,000 people living in Texas (that we know of, which means there are probably a LOT more). There have been 16 total cases. That means that approximately 0.0000000658% of the population has gotten the flu.

For some strange reason, I feel like this swine flu thing is being blown a *wee* bit out of proportion.... ;)

Agreed. Though I know a couple people who have relatives or friends who have been sick with it.

pandemic. not pandemonium. it just means that they have confirmed it spreads from person to person. we watch too many movies. the next step will be that the flu is losing ground and then the next step is that it is dormant or only confined to one area.

i had another conversation with my hubby about it. it was starting to piss me off. now a baby died. i will worry when a 30 year old strong man dies. he was saying that these phases are not like the terror alerts. they are just telling it what it is. and it is true, the flu is moving from person to person.

but if you wanted to get hysterical about something, you might has well get hysterical about the regular flu because it goes through these same phases every single year. (and does more damage)

so please... DON'T worry so much. it is a waste of energy. unless you live in Tijuana and don't have healthcare.

We have our first "probable" case here in Visalia, and a second possible one. They were both in the same Kindergarten class and the school has been shut down until they get more info. :(

Now I'm kind of (minorly) freaking out because I've had TONS of those symptoms but they're also side effects of the new med I've been taking.

Any word on how they're doing?

And I know how you feel. I always seem to get sick whenever there's something like this that happens. lol. Very disconcerting.

Ladies and Gentlemen: Mad Men, the Musical, featuring the Heidi Montag look-alike chorus line!

Being in the medical field, this flu concerns me but dose of prevention, awareness, and education does better than rampant paranoia. But like the reaction to the small pox, monkey pox, SARS and bird flu we've had hit in the past, this was expected.

Not related, I had a delicious meal at the kosher deli the other day. ^.^

Re H1N1 whatever

Wash your hands a lot. Don't touch unwashed hands to eyes/nose/mouth. Our moms were right. Mine is gloating.

If you get high fever/headache/body aches then call your doc.

The flu has not been deadly outside of Mexico and it still is not yet known why.

If you are on immunosuppressant medications like moi or have AIDS then you can take one of two meds when/if you start flu symptoms; Tamiflu is one and you can look up the other at the CDC web site. You do need a prescription. Also the immunosuppressed may wish to consider getting a gamma globulin shot.

And that's it, except if you do get the flu please stay home and not help contribute it to the world ;)

So far the regular seasonal flu which we live with all the time has been far more serious, with its usual death toll not confined to any one country or area.

kinda long but I didn't think "Gay!!!" was good enough to explain the whole scenario that popped in my head. Yes, my imagination is vivid AND twisted ;)

Caption: Sam prayed. But the pink poodle girls kept coming. He feared his blue suit would soon be destroyed.
There have been 2 cases of the swine flu here in Broward County. I'm not surprised. Mexico and Florida are big tourist spots. I think we are also in line with the birds migration patterns that can carry the flu. But I don't think its migration time yet. I think one of the reasons the medical community is freaking out is it’s a cross species illness. Humans, pigs and birds are all getting sick. There aren't a lot of cross species illnesses. They are comparing it to the pandemic flu of 1918. Which killed between 2.7% and 5.4% of the world’s population and at least 27% of the world population got sick.
Mexico City has the most UFO sightings per year then any other place in the world. Coincidence? The flu did start in Mexico. Perhaps the aliens are trying to cut our numbers so they can take over. Or they might just have poor health care in Mexico.

lol, nice!

And the swine flu seems to be declining a little bit or maybe the news is just giving Michael Jackson the limelight instead.

But yeah, understandably regarding the numbers,a nd the cross species. That freaks me out too.

I'm rereading The Stand which isn't helping. lol
