[music |John Williams. Kinda.]

In the Victorian era, fans were the ultimate playful props that could communicate all sorts of messages. A fan placed near the heart meant, You have won my love. A half-opened fan pressed to the lips suggested, You may kiss me. Hiding the eyes behind an open fan meant, I love you, while opening and closing the fan several times warned, You are cruel. Given how much a fan could come in handy, it’s a shame they ever invented air conditioning. ( Umm. I did not write, nor do I agree with that last sentence. lol. A shame they ever invented AC?! Where the hell do you live writer of this!?)

And how to make a small acting role stand out.

Or you can always do what I do and flash some boobie...

So, lemme get this straight... I'd pay you, and then everyone would get to see your boobies? Doesn't quite seem fair. :-p

Besides, I'm dirt poor, and porn is free. :-)

When I was in high school our Spanish teacher tried to teach us how to snap open a fan...it was a gigantic failure as about half of the class flicked their wrists and sent their fans flying to the floor. Still fun though, and probably one of the perks of going to an all girl school.

Hahaha, yes, AC is the greatest invention in the history of mankind.

Japan had similar customs relating to fans. One could break off a piece to write a note or brief poem to someone, for example, and custom-made fans were popular gifts between lovers.

Or you can always do what I do and flash some boobie... Ooh, I agree with d4b, pics please! ;-)

Well you know where my paypal account is.. ;) LOL

And that's cool, I didn't know Japan had a similar thing with fans. Or maybe I did and forgot it. That's more likely.

Hmmm ... so how much do you charge? ;-)

I'm not sure if Japan had a similar "fan language", but there were a lot of customs around fans. Of course, the reason women carried those fans was that they weren't supposed to allow men to see their face, so the fan's primary purpose was to conceal their face.

Sei Shonagon, in her diary, complained about how men often assumed that palace women were loose because, in their duties around the palace, they often could not follow all of the normal, elaborate, modesty rules required of high-class women. :-)

Oh that's interesting. That's a diary I want to read.

And honestly I'd better not. I suppose I could do a cleavage shot, but my beloved would not be thrilled for me to be sharing my breasts with the world. ;)

after auditions for the last Wonka I did, this girl came up to me and gave me some MAJOR attitude because in her acting audition, she only had one line (because of the sheer number of kids in the show, I have to randomly assign them in scenes, and some kids get more lines in the acting audition than others because of it). She said "I dont think its fair that some of the kids get more lines in the reading part because I dont think you can show off what you can do with one line" and I proceeded to show her EXACTLY how you CAN show off a lot with one line, and she sassed me AGAIN... all the while I wanted to tell her that I could tell from the first two words from her mouth what she was capable of, and her performance for me right now was leaving an even worse impression.

during the rehearsal process and the shows, she proceeded to BITTERLY SULK the ENTIRE time she was onstage, put in NO effort whatsoever, and BLATANTLY turned her back on me and the staff when we did announcements and notes. Needless to say she didn't help her situation, unless her aim was to make me WANT TO CHOKE HER.

So obviously she needs to see that youtube. or flashe her boobies.

Did she end up beign cast then? *blink* I haaaate theatre kids like that. The last show I was in with a number of kids they were almost ENTIRELY wonderful. Talented, sweet, funny, respectful... It was almost unreal. I reeeally lucked out.

It's run sort of like a theatre camp, so the kids register and everyone who registers is in. Unfortunately. LOL
