If you've posted them I've all ready commented, unless I haven't gotten to your post, so I thought I'd post one too, in hopes more of you will pick them up. They're so sweet. :)

Teddy Roosevelt once took over 500 gallons of beer with him on an African Safari.

And your youtube of the day:

Isn't Deadwood amazing? A friend has my first season, and has for over two years now. *siiigh* I think I'm going to have to ust buy another one. I wish that the HBO dvd's weren't so expensive. But they sure are worth it.

Yeah, the video's something else hehe

i am usually the type to celebrate all kinds of love on Valentines day, but for some reason this year I am bitter and not partaking. I am working Valentines day night thank goodness, doing concessions for a play called Pillowman, which is about a string of gruesome child murders. In other words, the perfect play for a single Valentines day considering my state of mind this year LOL.

confession: I had dreams of being a Power Ranger, even though I HATED the show. But I was smart - those kids were FAMOUS. And I wanted in on that. lol.

Valentines Day + Pillowman= Epic Win.

You think theaters would pick there February seasons based on romantic plays.

lol, that's crazy!!

Also, marguerlucy, darling, I don't know what it is.. your emails are taking ages to get to me.

Maybe LJ knows we're superhero partners, and doesn't want us to be able to be in touch.

I think most theatres WOULD. But the artistic director of this theatre always has a dark or at least a black comedy in this February slot. Maybe its because he has been dating the same beautiful leggy blonde for years now and doesn't have to worry about romance.

Actually most of the plays he chooses all year are dark. But he saves the comedy for the last show of the year and sometimes something lighter at christmas.

What's the rest of the season this year? I'm curiou snow.

This season was:

The Elephant Man (sept/oct)
Nixon's Nixon (Oct/Nov)
The Santaland Diaries/Seasons Greetings
Pillowman (now)
Boston Marriage
Taming of the Shrew
(see how even the comedies he picks have a dark underbelly? depending how "Taming" is presented, anyway)

And just for comparison on my thesis, here are the past couple years seasons:

2006-2007: Mother Courage and Her Children, Santaland (they repeated it this year), The Interrogation Plays, Sin; A Cardinal Deposed, and a new play called Radio Free Emerson

2005-2006: I actually can't really remember. I think it was: Crime and Punishment, Twelfth Night, Lonesome West, Top Girls, La Bete

and P.S. Next year they might be doing Assassins.

And I'm pretty damn sure I won't be cast, because I NEVER am. Even though I'm a better singer than anyone else he would have up for Squeaky. GRRRRR.

(i'll still audition because in my heart, I always have hope. LOL)

LOL! Wow! That's kinda awesome though. Darker theatre companies are generally more fun over all in my experience then those that only do comedies.

Oh definitely. They're truly an awesome theatre and the work they do is impeccable and thought-provoking and truly relevent. They do all these extra shows on Monday nights (free), with plays that relate to current events, and they host talk-backs after. They have a great education aspect in the works, and everyone who works there is delightful to work WITH.

But we definitely all make fun of Tony (the AD I mentioned) because he likes DARK STUFF, and he's so like, "that theatre guy" - have you ever seen Slings and Arrows? He's a little bit like the main director character in that. I'm always like "Tony!! Lighten up!!! Oklahoma isn't that bad! Have you ever ridden in a surrey with fringe on top? I think you'd enjoy it if you'd just, you know, open that tightly closed heart a little bit." Which doesn't work so then I try to spin him on how DARK Oklahoma really is. "MURDER! STALKERS WITH SEXUAL OBSESSION! FAMILY FEUDS!!" lol.

And if you haven't seen Slings and Arrows.... you MUST rent it. Canadian TV series about regional theatre.

LOL! I've not seen all of Slings and Arrows but I absolutely love what I have seen.

Does he do much Caryl Churchill? I'm just curious because Vinegar Tom seems like a show that would be right up his alley.

European witch trials with allegory's of modern sexism. I had a blast when I did that show. They have modern music with such lines as:

"If you like sex sinful, what you want is us! If you can be sucked off by a succubus!"

Hahahaa, awesome! she is wild.

Have you read any of Joyce Carol Oates plays? she's another feminist playwright who writes insane stuff, actually kind of crazier than Churchill - sometimes crazy to the point of me thinking "ok this is just insane for the sake of insanity" whereas Churchill's stuff all makes sense in its wildness. But some of Oates stuff is really interesting.

SO... I've determined that LJ doesn't like our relationship. LOL.

They never sent me this comment, and your most recent comment on the other entry either.

They don't care about our love. ;)

I sense a conspiracy here.

And the only thing I can say is...like Tony and Maria, our love will overcome great odds.... but I cannot say which one of us it is that will be shot by Chino.

oh my god I have to tell you this story, though I feel like it might not be QUITE as funny as it is told in person:

My friend Peter went to see a regional or community theatre production (I can't remember which) of West Side Story some time ago. In the climactic scene when Chino runs on and shoots Tony, Chino runs on, but he has no gun in his hand, it is very apparent that the prop has gone missing or he forgot it or something. So, most of us, you know, would probably fake stabbing Tony or strangle him or something, right?

This guy ran up to Tony, KICKED HIM IN THE SHINS, yelled, "POISON BOOTS!!!!!" AND RAN OFF.

And of course, the best part of this story is that poor Maria had to do the rest of the play re-writing that monologue to accomodate Tony's death by POISON BOOTS!!!

"How much poison is left in your boots, Chino? Enough for you? and YOU?? and YOU?!?! How much poison, Chino, and still have enough left for me?!?!"

Best. Theatre. Fuckup. Story. Ever.

OMG. LOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Oh that's ridiculous, I f'ng love it. I wonder how many people insisted on their money back. There is no way people weren't laughing their asses off. That's insanity.

I knew a friend who went to a community production of Annie, and apparently during the big Christmas scene with Sandy and the orphans, and everyone Sandy walked over to one of the stage lights, lifted his leg and peed on it.

Unfortunately... apparently there was an exposed wire or something, and Sandy was electrocuted on stage.

Apparently it was a day time performance, with neighborhood schools coming to see the show.

So... that was not a good day for making repeat visitors to theatre from the children in that audience.

Now how to get back at the kids...

I managed to fall off the ladder during a scene with George when I was Rebecca Gibbs in Our Town.

LOL. That was not a good day.
