I think animated films went down hill after Ferngully, which was so good and progressive!
I do like a lot of Disney though, and Pixar. I loved the hell out of Ratatouillue. Have you seen it? :)
yeah, I did like Ratatouillue. I feel like the computer animated pixar movement is something separate. And then, Ratatouillue is more the anomaly than part of the trend.
true, but most soldiers didnt use them to prevent VD. they put them over the barrels of their guns to stop water and dirt getting in them.
you should hear some stuff the irish got up to during the war.
1. we werent alowed call it a war it was 'the emergency'
2. we had no tanks, but we did have cardboard cut outs of tanks which we used to fool any invaders
3. the army had no guns. but we did have hurling sticks painted to look like guns.
4. only country to offer condolences to the german people upon the death of hitler
quirky bunch aint we
*blink* They were really used on the gun? that's complete news to me! They didn't mention that on the History channel!
lol, nice. ;)
I used to watch it all the time when I was little. I even memorized the song when I was six! Ah, the memories...
Aww! Glad to be able to help you reminisce, babe. :)
Ahh you have an iconfrom Juno. That movie rocks!!!!
It's a reeeally great movie. I know a lot of people have issues with it, but I thoroughly loved it. :)
yea i loved it. I saw it with my brother and then when my friends were going i went again.
And i bought the soundtrack.
Lol I may ave gotten a tad obsessed
But it was great.
I know people who hated it but i can' understand why.
I'm the same way. I guess the overal idea is that it's too corny or whatever... I loved it though.
As recently as I can recall, soldiers also got cigarettes in their K-rations. Because EVERYONE smoked, I guess. My how times have changed.
You get a gold star just for knowing what a K-ration is.
I hope there's going to be a Band of Brothers talk in here soon. ;)
Well, with me on board you know it's bound to happen sooner or later.
They definitely did. *nod* And frankly, if I was out being a soldier somewhere you damn better ration me some cigarettes. lol
BATTY RAP RULES MY LIFE! Seriously, I watched that movie like everyday when I was 5.
YAY! =) Glad you're a fan. :)
Ferngully! I loved that movie. I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid, along with The Land Before Time (the original one, thank you very much, before the 65 million sequels began) and An American Tail. Of course, All Dogs Go to Heaven was good, too. And I'm pretty sure Disney movies didn't suck back then, either.
Ah, the good old days when life was simpler.
Awww!!! Those last three you just mentioned were my favorite fully animated films as a kid. Loved them.
And if I recall all three made me cry. I need to pick up Land Before Time ( Original, thank you. ;) ) for my kid. My Mom bought it for me when I was about his age.
Yeah, I seem to remember getting misty-eyed, too. Kind of like how the Wheelers from Return to Oz scared the crap out of me (not that I didn't LOVE that movie like there was no tomorrow anyway).
You know what I wish was available? Old school episodes of "Sesame Street." Back when the writing was fantastic and Telly and Grover were still big players. Those were the days.
I think they are available now. :) And there's some label on them that they maynot be appropriate for children. *chuckle* I swear I saw something to that effect not long ago.
Bwah? Wait...what? *blink blink*
I think that's proof that the world has, indeed, gone batshit crazy.
LOL< right!?! I guess in skits like cookie monster smoked a cigar or something.. just horrifying. I should look it up. I was too disgusted to post it. That happens very rarely. lol
that's the second time this week Ferngully has re-entered my life! strange.
Gosh I love good children's stories.
The part in Juno about the Hamburger Phone was a perfect example of that whole movie's execution--something entirely quirky and somewhat Napolean Dynamite, being addressed with a Wes Anderson sterility, but somehow managing to be so endearing and even likable. Excellent film.
I agree entirely. I loved the film. Criiiiied. lol. ;)
I got thrown out of the theater during that film for rooting for the bulldozers.
Nuh uhhh!! You're kidding, right? :)
Yeah, just kidding. I did get in trouble for letting my younger cousins watch it once. My aunt and uncle felt that the film was anti-christian and promoted "animism".
Well I'm glad you weren't cheering for the bulldozers. ;)
I love that movie! I think my VHS copy of it is falling apart from being watched so many times, and the part with the evil smoke guy used to give me nightmares.
Ooh!! I've actually never seen it all. lol... I lose.
