hymn posted this yesterday, and I teared up!!! I'm a total loser. It's the death of David The Gnome and his wife. Wth!?! They killed him? I sniffled. Maybe even had tears rolling down my cheeks. I can neither confirm nor deny these allegations...

Two employees of a restaurant outside New Castle,
Del., went into the office after closing and found a man inside. The
man ran out the back door, but was caught by police nearby. Police
identified him as Branden M. Tingey, 28, who was a manager at the
restaurant three years ago, but was fired. "This was a burglary," said
police Cpl. Joseph DiStefano. "He meant to rob the safe." The problem
was, he didn't know how. Investigators checked a computer in the office
and found Tingey was trying to get instructions over the Internet. "The
[current restaurant] manager moved the mouse on the darkened screen"
for investigators, DiStefano said, "and 'How to Crack a Safe' came up
on the screen on the Yahoo page." (Wilmington News Journal)

You know for some reason that scene of David the Gnome dying is a hell of a lot more traumatizing the second time around. I have vague recollections of seeing it as a child and while it struck me as sad at the time it seems so much more heartbreaking now that I'm older.

I bet because when your a kid it feels like watching a beloved character die but now it feels like watching a part of yourself your childhood die.

I think you are exactly right.

You raise a valid point. Nostalgia does wonders for how we view things, especially our childhoods. Also, I think it may have something to do with the fact than and older, more cynical me has a different perspective on death itself.

Glad I'm not alone in this. I felt SO pathetic crying at David the Gnome, but it was one of my favorites way back in the day.

I remember watching it with my Mom.

Yeah, I'll admit it: I got a little misty-eyed. Man, David the Gnome: they just don't make 'em like that anymore. Now that was a show with a message.

Swift's response REALLY got me. Those are his buddies and they turned into damn trees? I'd be pretty upset too!

your ICON made me cry!!! oh man that scene killed me. I sort of wish Freddie Highwhatever would stay that way forever. Which, granted, would probably be creepier as the years passed on rather than cute.

and when he rips up his play?!!?!?! oh MAN that kid was so good!

I know!! He' freaking amazing. I love that kid. Him and Max Perkis *sp? * are my favorite young actors. I cannot WAIT to see where their careers go, I'm so excited.

I think I vaguely remember that episode. I don't recall if I was upset or not.

It was so beautifully sad, seriously, what a way to go. I hope I turn into a pretty tree when I die. I did get a little tear-y. That poor fox. It wouldn't have been as bad if he wasn't there being all mope-y.

I realized after watching that the show had to be European. It is. The colors actually kind of remind me of Germany though, not Spain.

And aww! Thank you for linking me to that! I'm going to see if I can find the dvd and books for my kid.
