[music |Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy - Andrews Sisters]

Darn! I was going to do this cool LJ meme where it posts everyone's user pics, but unfortunately it stopped at the N's... so I'll have to try that one a different day when the computer's behaving better.

So instead... I guess you get another historical fact!

The violinist and composer Tartini dreamed that he handed his violin to the Devil and listened while the Devil played a sonata of astonishing beuaty. When he tried to reproduce the sonata on awakning, he could only remember one repeated trill. He used this trill as his theme in his "Trillo del Diavolo".

- When was your last nightmare? Mine was last night. Someone electrocuted my septuplets. *boggles*

And here's the Andrews Sister's doing Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy. Awesomeness. :)

My favourite anime has a story arc that revolves around the Tartini legend called, simply enough, Devil's Trill. :)

I think my last nightmare was yesterday when I realized we were going to have to move my massive dresser (from which the drawers will not remove) down two flights of stairs and out a door.

I ♥ Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy - I used to think I'd be a USO singer someday, but the idea lost a little charm when Bob Hope died. But..perhaps I missed it, but where's the link? :)

I actually posted the link to it now. lol. I lose. If you want to see it, it's up there. USO rocks. Yaaaaay. :)

And ooh! Sounds liek an interesting anime.. I gotta say I haven't been too impressed by the storylines I've seen in general, so maybe that'd be one to try.

And yeah. lol,. I'll be doing a bit of that eventually, I've got this giant ancient bookcase that must move from a computer room into my bedroom and I look to that day with much forboding. *hugs* I fel your pain!

I've been having nightmares like crazy lately.... The other night i was kidnapped, but ended up staying of my own free will 'cause the guy was this adorable middle aged man with BRACES(!!! It's adorable when anyone out of their teens has braces) who told me he only kidnapped women because no one would come hang out with him... and he only killed them because they didn't like him. So i stayed and cuddled with him.. Then i had a dream where i was attacked in a parkinglot by a man who asked me if i had a compass, and when i told him no he kept biting me (not in a nice way!) and then everyone thought i was gunna be a vampire.

I have problems sleeping because of nightmares... pretty much always. But it's been bad lately.

I had a lovely dream about Harry Potter last night, though. :) I slept for six, straight, glorious hours.

WOOHOO! Abduction!

lol... I'm a weird girl. It's a kink.. ;)

But yeah, that's bizarre. The murder part? Not so cool. Good you avoided it by being nice and hanging out with him. I doubt that would work with most murderers.. lol. Only those with braces apparently.

And vampire's are hot too... but doesn't sound like he was a hot vamp. Boo.

Strange dreams abound lately! *perusing everyone's dreams* I guess i'm kinda glad it's not just me, but I don't wish this weirdness on anyone else either.

Usually if I have nightmares they're about specific things, but.. not this kind. This was just obscure.

I would have much preferred Harry Potter dreams. Going tomorrow at midnight! *does a little wand dance*

I don't know if this is totally a nightmare, but the other night I dreamed I moved to a new neighborhood that didn't work on the grid system (I live in Salt Lake and LOVE the grid system. So easy!) and so I couldn't find my house and I went to my best friend's house and she was pregnant (she's younger than me, not married and no where near being pregnant) and it was supposed to be all well and good but that creeped me out. Then I couldn't find my friend or my house and ended up going to a magic store for unknown reasons.

Mostly the not finding my house and my friend being pregnant were weird (o:

Sounds like one of those nightmares that isn't a full nightmare. Just.. so weeeird, that it fits into nightmare status.

There's something in the air!

40's love! One of my favorite eras. . . .

My last nightmare was last night, but I pretty much have them every night. I dreamed I was working for Zombie Hugh Hefner in a real estate office, and he kept trying to hug me. I knew, though, that once he did, I'd be a zombie like him. Damn Zombie Hef!

And aaaack!!! Scary scary Hef. Man.

That's an image I will have now every time I watch Girls Next Door. Thanks for that. ;)

My last one was a few days ago. Ghosts from Pulse were the bad guys and the plot of the movie was pretty much the plot of my dream. The only changes were characters and location: Suburb near the country instead of a big city, and myself and my daughter with people I don't know but in the dream I did.
It's briefly mentioned in my LJ

I love the Andrew Sisters! Repost that link!

I actually had a mild bad dream last night in which 1st - I was back in high school for some reason, and failing (ugh I have that one a lot) and then our kittens kept escaping and mom said we had to get rid of them! :( not like, terrible nightmares, but I wokeup feeling uneasy, you know?

there is this book called The Voice of the Wood that is very cool... it is about a cello maker. LOL so its really only LOOSELY related to your blog - its a children's book, but has this like, serious quality to it, sort of like Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince.

lol, see, being back in high school can either be awesome or nightmarish depending on the context. Failing would not be awesome. lol. -- Awww. Poor kitty. :( Terrible enough. Anything you wake up feeling cruddy from pretty much is a nightmare on some level, right?

Ooooooh. Interesting. How much of a Childrens book is it? Like toddler friendly? Or more for school age kids?

I got my own kid, and a slightly older neice with a birthday coming up, so I'm always on the look out... but if it's about the devil giving the cello'st music... my sister will crucify me. hehehe

Wow that was some nightmare!
It must have been a night for nightmares. Someone else on my flist had weird dreams last night, too... I've been lucky and not had as many lately, but I did have one not long before I woke up, about my middle son, and I sure hope it doesn't have anything to do with what might be happening. I just have had him on my mind lately.

That is a really interesting story about Tartini's "Trillo del Diavolo!" I did not know that. (I played violin as a child. I can't play anymore).

I loved The Andrews Sisters! I grew up listening to them, and Elvis and the Inkspots ... we were pretty eclectic.

I've never heard of the Inkspots. What kind of music are they?

I was really lucky to grow up around eclectic music too. :) Beatles, Coltrane, Chopin and Sound of Music all the way! lol. ;) I think a variety of music is soooo good for kids. :)

And yeah! Seriously, looking at everyone's posts, it definitely has been a night ( or couple of nights) for nightmares. Tons, left and right. Does Mercury being in retrograde cause nightmares? I really don't know any of that stuff... Bad times though. Gah. I hate nightmares.

And so cool! I just got a violin a few months ago, but between working, mom'ing, friending, lj'ing, etc. I haven't really learned anything on it yet. One of these days I'll get around to it. You're familiar with Tartini's piece then? Did you feel any evil while playing it? ;)

And yeah. My nightmare was AWFUL.

My nightmares are always the same. I'm stuck somewhere doing a completely repetitive task that I can never finish and never stop. Sort of like Sysiphus, but without the rock and the hill. And the worst part is that they usually repeat all night. I'll have the dream and then wake up, but when I fall asleep I have the same dream again with minor variations. It happened last night actually. I kept having to try and arrange these baskets into a specific pattern, but it was always changing and I never seemed to be able to leave. Very frustrating and not at all restful, really.

Ugh. *HUGS*

That's horrible. I can't imagine having to do that over and over and over again in a dream. I wouldn't want to sleep. :(

At least my nigthmares, horrifying as they are generally have some differences in them. Even the ptsd ones have variances.

I always have the same bad dream. Almost every night. I have regular dreams, like anyone else. But about 5-7 minutes before I wake up, I go into the same bad nightmare. I'm completely lucid, and know I'm dreaming. I can move around freely, but I still can't affect anything. The dream is, basically, I'm in some dramatic recreation of Hell. All the people I care about, all the people I love, and most of the people I see on a regular basis, are all there. They're being tortured. They're being dismantled, mutilated, destroyed. But I can't do anything to stop it. Nothing I do makes a difference. I pull and tug on arms of demonic creatures, but I'm powerless to stop their movement. I'm never attacked, I'm never harmed. I hear their screams of pain and agony. People that have been around when I have such dreams tell me I shake, squirm, moan and sometimes scream. I always awaken with a start, covered in sweat. My only reprieve from these dreams, is that they only come at the end of another dream. If I don't dream at all, then I am spared this sight.

*hugs* That's awful. :( I know they have some pills out there for people that have terrible nightmares taht you can take to try and eliminate nightmares but the idea of taking pills like that concerns me. I don't know if that'd be something you'd be interested in.
