[mood |blahblah]
[music |Serbian Idol Music]

A woman was shaking out a rug on the balcony of her 17th floor condominium when a sudden gust of wind blew her over the railing. "Damn, that was stupid," she thought as she fell. "What a way to die."
As she passed the 14th floor, a man standing at his railing caught her in his arms.
While she looked at him in disbelieving gratitude, he asked, "Do you suck?"
"No!" she shrieked, aghast.
So, he dropped her.
As she passed the 12th floor, another man reached out and caught her. "Do you screw?" he asked.
"Of course not!" she exclaimed before she could stop herself.
He dropped her, too.
The poor woman prayed to God for one more chance. As luck would have it, she was caught a third time, by a man on the eighth floor. "I suck! I screw!" she screamed in panic.
"Slut!" he said, and dropped her.

Hahaha... never can please a man, eh? Or, rather, all men! ROFL! Good one!

My goodness, they are all a'cappella! That is hard! What? No karoke music in Serbia? No guitars to accompany oneself?

Did you hear that little boy Dominic sing Unchained Melody a'cappella on American Idol? Gave me goosebumps. Man... one of my favorite songs! Hard to sing even with backup.

lol, I liked it.

And I thinl that it's the audition process which is acapella in the US too.

And that's a great song. I didn't hear it performed on AI, I'll see if I cna find it online somewhere.

Umm...I don't find this funny in the slightest. I mean, forgive me, but I've never considered the value of a Woman to be her Sexual experience and affinities. What a person chooses to do privately with someone else is her own business. As a man, I'm also deeply offended by the idea that its all I should care about, according to the way this "Joke/Story" reflects our societal values.

You may say, "Its a joke, lighten up." I say, "Its cold, uncaring, rude, offensive, and degrading to all involved by proxy, and I refuse to allow it to pervade my existence unchecked."

I think you're taking it a little too deeply.

I found it amusing because it's like she can't win.

The first two guys wanted her sexually, and she's like "Hell, no!" and when she sees that she's going to die if she doesn't compromise herself enough to get caught, she volunteers to do those things... and it's a guy that doesn't want either from some strange falling girl, and just wanted to catch her.

I thought it was ironic, and just a statement about life in general, about how no matter what you do, more or less, you're screwed. Male or female. This joke just happened to have a female as the character in it that goes splat.

I didn't post it as some form of anti-feminist attack, or an attack on "carnal men" or anything of that nature at all..

"I didn't post it as some form of anti-feminist attack, or an attack on "carnal men" or anything of that nature at all."

Nor did I think of this post as such. But I also fear that 90% of the people that will read this joke and laugh, will not take it the right way. And sadly, its more likely that its that 90% that will breed and have children, that are exposed to these jokes, during impressionable years. If I complain adamantly now, maybe, just maybe, they'll really look at the other things that could be seen in such stories. You see people can't win. Someone else sees that Women should be promiscuous, because they'll have fewer problems, and its ok for a man to kill someone if he doesn't get what he wants from them, especially women. Words have consequences beyond what is on the surface, and I advocate for the understanding of such and the careful choice of words. I promise, I think no less of you for this post, I object to the joke, not the messenger.

I think the people who would view it in such a negative way are in a minority.

All jokes are about interpretation though, all conversation, and you can't change how someone's going to interpret something.

Would you prefer something wasn't said or posted because someone with an unhealthy mindset may interpret it as something that could inspire violence, or sexism, or any other onslaught of negative things?

Well, considering its a joke about murder, I think its in poor taste no matter what, so this, yes I think it shouldn't be said. If you say, I like peanut butter and banana sandwiches, and someone freaks out and calls you racist for saying it, then they're off, and thats unavoidable. Cultural difference, that one person's messed up past, whatever set them off, thats still not your fault as the speaker, because you never could have predicted someone being offended by it. But joking about murder, that one should be obvious.

Oh, I'd never dream of asking for the post's removal. RandomPosting may place whatever on this journal RandomPosting wants. But until asked otherwise, I would like to speak my mind about such posts.

I don't quite know what your second line means...exactly...so I'm going to leave it alone.

You're always welcome to speak your mind here. :) I may not agree with you, or others who post things, but you're always welcome to your opinion, unless you're threatening another LJ user or something of that nature, that's the only time I can remember ever censoring antyhing on this journal is when one LJ user was attacking another in that way.

And that is certainly not the case here.
