In the Tri-Cities in Washington state there is (or at least was when I lived there) an annual rubber ducky race down the Columbia river. You could register your name and a number and the numbers were written on the bottom of the ducks before they were dumped out into the river. The first one to float to the finish line got the prize.

..I wonder if I still have my t-shirt from it..

Don't think my family ever won one. And the shirts were good ol' early 90's style event memorabelia that you had to pay for just like everything else. Except for usage of the on-site facilities. No one would want to deal with protestors over that.
